Facevook videochat

Facebook video chat is real: the social network has unveiled its rumored video chat product, powered by Skype.
“A few months ago, we started working with Skype to bring video calling to Facebook,” Facebook announced on its blog. “We built it right into chat, so all your conversations start from the same place. To call your friend, just click the video call button at the top of your chat window.”

The new chat product, according to Facebook’s blog, will allow users to call their friends right from Facebook. The revamped chat system now includes a sidebar with “the people you message most.” It automatically appears when your browser is big enough.

Mark Zuckerberg' s Girlfriend

Source:Hindustan Times
Remember all that speculation sparked off by the film The Social Network about an embittered Zuckerberg, who had been jilted by his girlfriend? Well, it's not true. The Facebook founder has in fact, been dating the same lady for the last many years.

How do we know?
Remember the man

Pradeep Manukonda, who had been stalking Zuckerberg? Well, a restraining order has been served to Manukonda, preventing him from going within 300 yards of Zuckerberg and his sister Randi, who is also Facebook's marketing director. Also protected in the order is (ahem ahem) Priscilla Chan, Zuckerberg's longtime girlfriend, reported TMZ.

Chan and Zuckerberg have been dating since his days at Harvard. The two met at a party while waiting in line for the bathroom; Chan later told The New Yorkerthat she thought Zuckerberg was "this nerdy guy who was just a little bit out there."

That's not all. Zuckerberg had even offered Chan a job at Facebook with him. According to
The Harvard Crimson
, this was the conversation that followed.

"Hey Priscilla, do you want a job at the Facebook?" Zuckerberg asked a passing friend.

"I'd love a job at Facebook," Priscilla Chan '07 responded, offering him a Twizzler candy.

And the lady sure has her man under her thumb. Author and tech journalist Sarah Lacy has written that Chan has imposed strict rules on her relationship with Zuckerberg. One of the top rules: "One date per week, a minimum of a hundred minutes of alone time, not in his apartment, and definitely not at Facebook."

And yes, of course she is on Facebook.

ZOOT

Zoot suit

A soldier and a woman with two men wearing zoot suits in Washington D.C., 1942
A zoot suit (occasionally spelled zuit suit) is a suit with high-waisted, wide-legged, tight-cuffed, pegged trousers, and a long coat with wide lapels and wide padded shoulders. This style of clothing was popularized by Mexican-Americans, African Americans, and Italian Americans during the late 1930s and 1940s.[1][2][3] In Britain the bright-coloured suits with velvet lapels worn by Teddy Boys bore a slight resemblance to zoot suits in the length of the jacket.

[edit] Characteristics

Five men in modernized zoot suits
A zoot suit has high-waisted, wide-legged, tight-cuffed pegged trousers, and a long coat with wide lapels and wide padded shoulders. Often zoot suiters wear a felt hat with a long feather and pointy, French-style shoes. A young Malcolm X described the zoot suit as: "a killer-diller coat with a drape shape, reet pleats and shoulders padded like a lunatic's cell".[4] Zoot suits usually featured a watch chain dangling from the belt to the knee or below, then back to a side pocket.
The amount of material and tailoring required made them luxury items, so much so that the U.S. War Production Board said that they wasted materials that should be devoted to the World War II war effort.[5] This extravagance during wartime was a factor in the Zoot Suit Riots.[6] Wearing the oversized suit was a declaration of freedom and self-determination, even rebelliousness.[6]

[edit] History

Al Capp's 1943 satirical drawing
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the word zoot probably comes from a reduplication of suit. The creation and naming of the zoot suit have been variously attributed to Harold C. Fox, a Chicago clothier and big-band trumpeter;[7] Louis Lettes, a Memphis tailor;[8] and Nathan (Toddy) Elkus, a Detroit retailer.[9][10]
Zoot suits first gained popularity in Harlem jazz culture in the late 1930s, where they were initially called drapes.[11] The zoot suit became very popular among young Mexican Americans, especially pachucos in Los Angeles. Anti-Mexican youth riots in Los Angeles during World War II are known as the Zoot Suit Riots.

How Coins are made

Source: The U.S. Mint

Step 1: Blanking
The U.S. Mint buys strips of metal about 13 inches wide and 1,500 feet long to manufacture the nickel, dime, quarter, half-dollar, and dollar. The strips come rolled in a coil. Each coil is fed through a blanking press, which punches out round discs called blanks. The leftover strip, called webbing, is shredded and recycled. (To manufacture the cent, the Mint buys ready-made blanks after supplying fabricators with copper and zinc.)
Step 2: Annealing, Washing and Drying
The blanks are heated in an annealing furnace to soften them. Then, they are run through a washer and dryer.
Step 3: Riddling
The shiny blanks are sorted on a “riddler” to screen out any that are the wrong size or shape.
Step 4: Upsetting
Next, the good blanks go through an upsetting mill. This raises a rim around their edges.
Step 5: Striking
Finally, the blanks go to the coining press. Here, they are stamped with the designs and inscriptions, which make them genuine United States coins.
Step 6: Inspecting
A press operator uses a magnifying glass to spot-check each batch of new coins. Then all the coins go through a coin sizer to remove any misshapen or dented ones.
Step 7: Counting and Bagging
An automatic counting machine counts the coins and drops them into large canvas bags. The bags are sewn shut, loaded on pallets, and taken by forklifts to be stored in vaults. New coins are shipped by truck to Federal Reserve Banks. From there, the coins go to your local bank!

The World Treasures

There may be lost pirate treasure buried in the coves of the Caribbean Islands. There are certainly lost treasures of gold and jewels aboard early Spanish sailing ships sunk at sea. But not all treasure is lost. The earth is full of found treasures. Here are just a few of them.

Bauxite: This mineral is used to make aluminum. Guinea in Africa is rich with it.

Cashews: These delicious nuts grow on trees in Mozambique, a country in southeast Africa.

Chewing Gum: The sapodilla tree of Central America is the source of chicle, which is what puts the chew in chewing gum.

Chocolate: The seed of the cacao tree, which is found on many Caribbean islands, is used to make chocolate.

Chromium: This metal is used to make stainless steel. There is plenty of chromium in Zimbabwe, Africa.

Copper: One of the richest “copper belts” in the world is in Zambia, Africa.

Cork: Bulletin boards and stoppers in wine bottles are both made of cork, which is the bark of the cork oak tree in Spain.

Diamonds: Namibia, Africa, supplies the most valuable diamonds of the 18 countries in southern Africa rich with diamonds.

Emeralds: Colombia produces the most emeralds of any country in South America.

Gold: The world's largest gold mine is in Irian Jaya, Indonesia.

Mahogany: The trees that supply this beautiful wood grow in Central America.

Nitrates: This mineral used to preserve foods is found in the desert of Chile.

Perfume: In the south of France, flowers are grown for their oils, which are used in making perfumes.

Seaweed: Off the coast of Japan, seaweed is harvested to eat or to flavor foods.

Sugar: Sugarcane is grown in many countries in Central America and the Caribbean Islands.

Vanilla: There wouldn't be vanilla ice cream without the vanilla bean. More than half the world's vanilla is grown in Madagascar.

Wool: Most of the world's wool is supplied by the sheep of Australia.
